(Flow Film Division)

In 2022, Flow launched UnRote Pictures as the producing division for non-commercial films. The first film under the UnRote Pictures label was The Bridge (which you can view in its entirety below). Even before UnRote Pictures was created, Flow occasionally made film projects. Some of our favorites are shown below. Enjoy!

The Bridge

Charlie and Amir are next door neighbors and best friends. But the tension between their fathers threatens to tear their families apart. Much like Stand By Me, The Bridge artfully mixes the humor of boyhood adventure with poignant drama. Through deft storytelling, this award-winning film explores questions of how violence is incorporated into boyhood, and how friendship might help overcome the trauma of war.

The Giver

When the pandemic essentially cancelled the 2020/2021 high show choir season, two best friends who were directors of Linn-Mar and Ankeny's top show choirs decided they'd like to take advantage of cancelled competitions to create something together. They came up with the idea of making a music/dance video interpretation of Lois Lowry's iconic novel, The Giver.

They licensed the rights from Lowry and several musicians and hired Flow Media and Dream City Cinema to produce the film. The process and the end product were a testament to the life-giving power of creative community during difficult times.

From Iowa with Love

Should we really let our religious, cultural, or ethnic differences divide us or affect how we feel about our friends and neighbors? We certainly don't think so. Each person is beautiful in their own way and we hope everyone continues living side by side accepting our differences. Here is our wish to you from Iowa with LOVE...

This video was the first ever produced by Flow Media, as part of the Corridor Characters series. It was created as a counter to the negative, damaging, and often hateful rhetoric against immigrants and Muslims that accompanied Trump’s 2016 political campaign.
